Construction Has Begun!
The first phase of construction at Mount Zion’s future site located at 900 South Westover Boulevard commenced on December 19, 2008. After preparing the outskirt of the land with silt fencing to prevent soil erosion, the big tractors with their monstrous teeth rolled in. Within three short days, it became obvious that change was occurring amid the field of trees and shrubs. It has been a little over four weeks into the project, and the land is now cleared of trees, stumps, shrubbery, and debris. As the last wisps of smoke from the burning waste trail the calm winds and the bulldozers momentarily pause from their enormous demolition, one can’t help but to embrace the beauty of the vast expanse of sky that will soon be the picturesque backdrop of Mount Zion Baptist Church – a church that is reaching the world for Christ through evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and mission!
